Great Dunmow is an ancient market town and Roman town in Uttlesford which is a district of northwest Essex, England. It has a modern day population of approximately 8830 people.
Between the occupation by the Romans and the time of the Saxons, the town acquired its name, which in 951AD was Dunemowe. In medieval times, Dunmow was a thriving commercial centre.
